September 19, 2022 - Smoke In the Air and Food In the Crockpot

 Ayo how's everyone doing?? It's been a crazy past couple weeks, the smoke from the California fires has been terrible here. The air quality has been in the 300s and 400s hazardous stage and everyone just tells us to go home but we just keep grinding. We had some dude give us masks so we tried those for a while but it doesn't do too much and we just keep moving. Probably took in the equivalent of a couple packs of cigarettes a day but it cleared up yesterday so that was a blessing. I also have a new found love for crockpots, those things are a straight miracle. I made some pretty fire bbq chicken so if yall have any crockpot recipes send em my way. 

We've seen some crazy miracles, I took my good ol buddy Elder Rhett Andersons advice and started praying for the miracles God wants/needs instead of the miracles that I want for all of these people. And yupp it works. We've been teaching our buddy Kevin for a couple months and he's quiet and you can't really tell what he thinks. But we ended up getting on the topic of Christ and miracles and that moved to priesthood authority and we taught him that we have that authority and could have that authority and could baptize his son someday. Anyway it seemed to be the final piece that clicked for him and we all felt prompted and invited him to be baptized so we're shooting for Oct 8th! Then we just had some other wild things where we had like an extra ten minutes somewhere and both times I felt prompted to knock a specific door and both times were people who said we could come back. Its been cool to see God bless us with things that we've been able to see a little bit more visibly. 

We had stake conference this week and we had 4 people come! It was solid they all loved it and Elder Mark D Eddy of the 70 was there and he came and talked to all of them. He told Kevin he was speaking in general conference and he'd be thinking about him and that he would say something specific for him. One thing Elder Eddy said during the adult session was about love, share, invite in normal and natural ways. He said that the problem here is that everyone's normal and natural is different so when we hear stories or crazy miracles with it we compare ourselves to them and try what worked for them. And then we wonder why it never works for us. He said to stop comparing and do YOUR normal and natural. As you get comfortable with yourself, let the spirit work through you and stop trying to replicate all the examples we hear and just do your normal and natural love share invite then it will work and you will see miracles. Yall should give it some time to think about it and then try it!

  It was a good week but a hard week. Lots of ups and downs. The activity days girls heart attacked our door at the beginning of the week and we're just gonna keep it up for as long as we can.  On Wed I picked up my trainee! His name is Elder Giauque and somehow you pronounce his name like juke. He's from Arizona and he and I are pretty different but we found some common ground on Avatar the Last Airbender lol.   He's excited to do everything and wants to be obedient so that part of training makes it really easy! Ive been working him hard and he's been pretty exhausted but he tells me he likes it so we're gonna keep it up haha. Last transfer I was working on and praying for patience and then God had me become a trainer haha now I'm definitely using that patience! Missionary work can be hard and now training makes it harder but I'm enjoying it and I've learned a ton in these last 5 days. I just hope I can be a good trainer for him!  We got to play some ba...

January 17, 2022 - What It Do Family and Friends

  It was a lovely week and I'm just gonna do some bullet points of some highlights or funny things! ~This amazing lady named Deb told us she wants to join the church so we started the discussions with her and she loves it!! ~Our door approach we tried, "Hey, we've been trying to reach you concerning your cars extended warranty... nah just kidding we're the missionaries haha" got some good laughs out of people with it  ~Met a guy who's name was Jesus and he likes to jump in the park when the moon is high in the sky lol ~Our friend Will that we've been teaching brought his wife and kids to church on Sunday! It was the coolest thing and made me so happy! Definitely the highlight of the week ~Quilted with Sister Mahoney again Quick thought, even if we have just a desire to believe and trust in God and  Christ then that's enough. November 29, 2021 - Elder Uchtdorf the German Shepherd

This week flew by. We had so many meetings this week it was crazy. We district council on Tuesday, zone conference on Wednesday, Thanksgiving on Thursday, and then the mission conference with Elder Uchtdorf on Saturday. And then I spoke in church on Sunday. Definitely the busiest week of my mission so far but also probably the best.  Thanksgiving was awesome, pretty different from being home but at least this year I could taste the food because last year I had covid over Thanksgiving and couldn't taste anything. We visited 5 families, had a really good dinner, and ate a whole lot of pie. We had another lesson with Will this week and it was the best he's such a good person and literally the ideal person you want to teach.  Elder Uchtdorf was so cool. It was almost as if he had a glow to him, he truly carries the Light of Christ. He was funny and making jokes throughout his talk.
