January 11, 2022 - 2023
I still can't believe that it's 2023. A year ago I didn't think it would ever come but here we are. The last couple weeks have been pretty cool. We've had a ton of good things going. The Ramirez family that had us over for Christmas eve had extra ingredients to make to tamales so we went over to make tamales with them. It was so good and I'm still convinced latino culture has the best food.
We had transfers this last week so Elder Montgomery went to Sun Valley which is like the 2nd or 1st biggest trailer park in the world. I got a new companion Elder Neville, he's from Ohio and we came out at the same time so it's been fun. I was his Zone Leader like 10 months ago so it's really fun to be companions now. We got to take a couple missionaries out on their last night as missionaries this week and it was really fun. We had like 3 hours with them before we took them to the hotel before they went home the next day. We pushed it so hard so they could finish strong to end their missions. Low key made me trunky haha but at the same time it was really motivating because at the end of my mission I want to be in that spot. I want to be able to say I gave my all and then go out finding and teaching my last night.
Our friends are doing really well. Hilda and Drake are still set to be baptized on the 21at so we're really excited. Drake is 12 and he was so bummed when church was canceled on the 1st because it snowed like a foot haha. Hilda told us a story of how her whole life she has asked God for things. Asking for blessing and favors but she said she never asked God what He wanted her to do. So she asked God what He wanted her to do and then the missionaries showed up. Now we're here and they really love coming to church.
Bruce called us and said he was coming to church in the morning and then didn't pull up so that was lame. Then my boy Kenny we've been sharing messages on his doorstep forever and he's always wearing different crocs. His house is crazy with kids running around but we committed him to coming to church. I went even as far as gave him one of my and collar shirts and a tie Sunday morning. Then they didn't even show! I'm gonna ask for my shirt back haha nah but maybe next week.
Joanna is a lady I taught for 7 months in my last area and she was on baptismal date twice but it just wasn't time. Anyway she got baptized this week so we got to go watch that so that was sick. And our friend Roy who was a member got permission from the first presidency and he got rebaptized on Sunday. The spirit was so strong and he is a perfect example of a fully repentant person.
Anyway hope you all are loving 2023 and have a good week!
