October 18, 2021 - Whirlwind on the Kendama
This week had its up downs for sure so I'll start with the downs. Well literally everyone canceled on us everyday this week except for one lesson. It was tough. So we didn't have much to do, but we did spend a lot of time with the members and families which was awesome. Elder Houston got word he's finally going to Argentina on Nov 4 and Elder weaver is supposed to go to Argentina too but he hasn't got a date yet so he's been really sad/bitter so that's been a little rough. Now the ups haha we did a whole lot of service this week again. We worked at the pumpkin patch, we ripped out some tree trunks and roots at a members house, we cleaned up this lady's backyard and she had like 30 years of so much stuff in her house and backyard it was nuts, and we helped some people move stuff into their house. We went to the high school football game this week with a family we're teaching to watch their son who was baptized like two months ago.
The best part of the week was definitely getting to go to the temple. They're now allowing us to go once a transfer. The Reno temple is pretty small but its really cool. We drove the last 5 miles to the temple on 0 miles of gas because we were late haha I still can't belive we made it there. Oh we also just found out that Elder Uchtdorf is coming to our mission in November so I'm so hyped for that.
I've been reading in Alma in the Book of Mormon recently, specifically the war chapters. I love the story of the stripling warriors and the "exceeding faith" they had. They trusted Helaman and held tight to the things they knew and had been taught. They didn't doubt for one second that the Lord would protect them. The Lord is always there to help us and bless our lives but we need to have the faith and do our part as well.
I attached lots of photos and I landed my first whirlwind on my kendama so that was pretty dang sick. Hope everyone has a great week!!
